"HUNGER"

Quotes & reviews of "HUNGER"...:

"Euro prog-rock with lots of tasty sounds that satisfyingly create a big space free of clutter or pretense." (Philip High - solo artist)

"As a fan of Black Light Syndrome (the Bozzio, Levin, Stevens instrumental supergroup) and Buckethead's 'Electric Tears' album, I loved the sweet harmonics, spacious soloing, and driving rhythms of David McLean's solo project 'Hunger'."  (Debra DeSalvo - solo artist)

"I’m very impressed! I was really happy to find something else than just fast hard rock guitar soloing. You’re on right track!"  (Mika "Mr. Fastfinger" Tyyska - Elektrik Pyjamas)

"Educated, talented, and inspired. What more can you ask for? Excellent stuff!" (Mikhal Caldwell - solo artist)

==========

David M. McLean / Skinny Devil Music Lab is a member of the Artist Hunger Network (AHN), a fabulous non-profit organization created by Stephen M. Maciel dedicated to raising awareness and money to fight poverty and hunger in the US and abroad through the collective efforts of caring artists from all disciplines.

Later this year, David M. McLean (guitarist of Alien Blue, former guitarist of the avant-garde band Aurora-Sen, driving force of Skinny Devil Music Labs,  columnist for "TinFoil Music Magazine", and instructional columnist for "Insane Guitar" and other on-line publications) will release a full-length CD entitled "HUNGER". ALL profits from this disc will go directly to the AHN and other homeless/hunger oriented charities.

"The collection is mostly guitar-crazy kinda stuff!", says David of the predominantly instrumental work. "There are one or two pieces that have no guitar at all, but the rest is a lot of feedback-drenched electric guitar and insane acoustic guitar acrobatics. But at the forefront are, I hope, some very pretty and memorable melodies." He adds, "This is a bit unusual for such guitar oriented projects, as much of it evolves in a wash of very heavy techno & industrial type grooves which are often fused with overtly primal, natural sounds and rhythms. But this project has been a blast to record so far!"

There are also several surprise guest artists making appearences. "Rusty Cooley- columnist for Guitar Player Magazine who was voted one of the fastest shredders of all time by Guitar-One Magazine - will be shredding away on at least one track. He's such an amazing player! My buddy Francesco Fareri, an absolutely insane player from Italy, will also be doing a track or two. In addition, I've scrapped the original drum trax on most of the songs, which were these really cool techno-style loops. My former band-mate (in Aur'a-Sen) & percussion virtuoso Mike Froedge (doubleDrive), my brother Adam McLean (incredible percussionist), and the amazing Sam Rhodus (DDE & Devil Stomp) will be tackling the majority of the drum trax."

David, of course, will be playing electric, classical, & acoustic guitars, plus bass, synths/keys, percussion, soundFX, and vocals. He also wrote all the music and is handling engineering & production in his home studio.

Below are several trax from the forthcoming CD.
