“Follow Your Bliss” (Joseph Campbell)

Welcome to the Guitar Instructor Network page at Skinny Devil Music Lab, web-home of award-winning guitarist David M. McLean. Soon, we will be able to converse so that I might better guide you on your journey through the Music Lab, but for now enjoy your visit.

Current Certified Guitar Instructors
Need to find a qualified guitar teacher in the US, Canada, Europe, or Japan? ALL SDML Guitar Instructors are required to be certified level-2 (silver) - or above - level players (for specific criteria for un-certified silver, see the awards criteria, with the understanding that certified silver is more demanding), which means they have a vast understanding of the fretboard, a firm grasp of various techniques used in all styles of music, understanding of most scales & chords, a wide array of songs (from "camp-fire" songs to pieces for solo guitar), and more.

While these guys don't work for me - and while meeting rigorous objective standards is no guarantee of creative musicianship or teaching skill - I can at least guarantee that their playing meets or exceeds most standards of guitar excellence. Additionally, most utilize many of the methods that make Skinny Devil Guitar Instruction much more than just a guitar lesson every week...including recitals & other performance opportunities, recording opportunities, information exchange, open jams, band/artist networking, awards programs, periodic newsletters, and more that enhance the musical experience, create community, and dramatically increase the speed with which students advance.

Future Certified Teachers
“Are you closer right now to where you want to be than you were a half-hour ago?” (Robert Cooper)
If you are interested in becoming an SDML Certified Guitar Instructor, make sure that before applying you have met or exceeded the silver level of the SDML Awards for Guitar Excellence. There are additional requirements (plus a small annual fee for the listing, teaching materials, business support, access to awards programs, player certification, and the like), but if you're serious about a career in music, I'm sure meeting those requirements is not an issue.

If you have secured the silver level (or more) and are interested in becoming part of the network, then contact me.

"You want a career? Here's a door...."
