David and Blue live from the CD release party, 11-06.

Straight from David, for May/June 2008.....(with 2007 web wrap-up at the end):

01) We now have an important endorsement from The Gibson Foundation (part of Gibson Guitars) for the YMCA segment of our Guitar Program. It's official: The guitar program we've built in Lexington is the largest YMCA guitar program in the US (out of over 2600 locations)! Read the article here! My thanx to Dave & Jan & everyone at the YMCA of Central KY, as well as the good folks at Gibson!

02) We have a new page up that will feature both fan art and photos of YOU! That's right, if you have created artwork of me or Blue, or of Alien Blue, or any of the projects I've done in the past, or a new Skinny Devil logo, then e-mail it to us (along with your name & location) and we'll post it on the page! In addition, if you have a Skinny Devil Music Lab T-shirt, take a photo of you wearing your shirt and e-mail it to us (along with your name & location) and we'll post it on the new Skinny Devil Photos & Art page!

2.5) In the spirit of the above, we've decided to hold an ART CONTEST. It can be a new logo using the old model (skinny devil) or my ugly mug or whatever you think is cool for Skinny Devil Music Lab. We'll choose the finalists, and then hold a public voting thing right here to determine the winner. Finalists have their art featured on the site; the winner gets their work on the site & featured on a t-shirt, and they win $100. More details soon!

03) New music reviews and interviews at Tinfoil Music! A 2-part 20 questions interview with the amazing multi-talented dancer-percussionist-actress and former member of STOMP Tonya Kay (only our 2nd interview in the "Artists at the Edge" series), new installments of the "Guitar Gods" series featuring the incredible Badi Assad, Phil Keaggy, and Dustie Waring, and more, and very soon an audio interview with Grammy winning guitarist extraordinaire Steve Stevens on his new CD, "Memory Crash"!

04) "Pentatonic Concepts (volume 1)" is available now from Shred Academy. The 75 minute instructional DVD features 27 chapters, 5 play-along exercise sections, special guest soloists, and more!  We're also in pre-production for the follow-up DVD that will feature advanced concepts for the pentatonic scale. Click the image to see details and a video sample.

.....

4.5) The CD "AN ALIEN BLUE" is avalaible on-line now via Skinny Devil Records (a label that will feature music CDs, instructional DVDs, and more from not only your's truly, but other acts in the very near future), so get it HERE (listen to samples of all 15 trax!) or visit the Alien Blue page. We are currently recording demos for the follow-up CD!

05) I write a new lesson every month at Music Power and Guitar Trader that's free! Get on their mailing lists to get them automatically!

5.5) Speaking of guitar lessons, our network of SDML certified instructors is growing. Visit our new GUITAR INSTRUCTORS NETWORK page for an instructor near you - or to become an SDML instructor & have a career teaching (and playing) music.

06) The recording studio here at Skinny Devil Music Lab is now operational and open to the public. A small, "guerilla recording" environment, it's designed to get commercial-release quality at extremely affordable pricing (with no bells-n-whistles). Soon we'll have photos up of "The Cave"!

07) Want a job in the music industry, with pay directly related to performance? Experience all aspects - from creation & instruction to production & distribution to sales & collections...even bookings. Check the new "Employment" page - Serious inquiries only.

8) Yes, in 2006 & 2007 I donated 4 of my guitars to the YMCA (Beaumont, North, & High branches). I urge others to donate your no longer used instruments to any local org (especially the YMCA) who provides arts programming - especially if they have a scholarship program to make classes available to everyone.

9) Our 2007 wrap-up will be posted permanently on the gigs2007 page, but I just wanted to thank everyone who visited the site in 2007....all 110,000+ visitors viewed over half a million pages and punched over 1 million hits here at the virtual home of the Music Lab! Thanx for enjoying Skinny Devil Music Lab lessons, music, interviews, and more!
